چکیده
UNLABELLED PREMISE OF THE STUDY We developed 10 new primers for amplifying microsatellite loci for both Leucosceptrum japonicum and L. stellipilum to study the genetic structure of hybrid zones between these two species. • METHODS AND RESULTS We isolated DNA fragments containing microsatellites from an enriched library and designed the 10 primer pairs amplifying the fragments. The number of alleles per locus ranged from one to 11 in both L. japonicum and L. stellipilum. The observed heterozygosity ranged from 0.00 to 0.84 and 0.00 to 1.00 in L. japonicum and L. stellipilum, respectively. The expected heterozygosity ranged from 0.00 to 0.84 and 0.00 to 0.89 in L. japonicum and L. stellipilum, respectively. • CONCLUSIONS These newly developed markers will be useful in investigating genetic structure and hybridization patterns in hybrid zones between L. japonicum and L. stellipilum.

Variation in the Frequency and Extent of Hybridization between Leucosceptrum japonicum and L. stellipilum (Lamiaceae) in the Central Japanese Mainland
Variations in the frequency and extent of hybridization among mixed populations located in the same contact zone provide natural laboratories for the study of extrinsic reproductive isolation maintaining species integrity. In this study, we examined the pattern of hybridization between L. japonicum and L. stellipilum among mixed populations in different localities of a contact zone. The genetic...

Understanding the scale at which wild stocks of Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) are genetically discrete is necessary for effective management of this commercially important species. Disomic DNA microsatellite markers are among the best tools for determining stock structure in fishes. As all sturgeon species have a polyploid ancestry of all sturgeons, most gene loci exhibit more than two ...

This study was conducted in order to investigate genetic diversity and population structure of pike-perch in the Northern part of Iran. For this purpose, 207 adult pike-perches from four regions of the Caspian Sea watershed (Talesh Coasts, Anzali Wetland, Chaboksar Coasts and Aras Dam) were collected. DNA was extracted and by using 15 pairs of microsatellite primers, Polymerase Chain Reaction (...
متن کاملAssessing genetic diversity of promising wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) lines using microsatellite markers linked with salinity tolerance
Narrow genetic variability may lead to genetic vulnerability of field crops against biotic and abiotic stresses which can cause yield reduction. In this study a set of 37 wheat microsatellite markers linked with identified QTLs for salinity tolerance were used for the assessment of genetic diversity for salinity in 30 promising lines of hexaploid bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). A total of 4...
